I don’t know how that happened – actually I do, the live feed on Facebook of Jeremy Dixon reading In Retail (xxiii) (from The Other Side of Sleep) was getting so many plays I forgot to upload the more professionally recorded version!
Here it is…
And here is audio of him reading his Liberty Tales poems, later in the evening when I had run out of camera battery
Jeremy is joining us at The Poetry Book Fair at Conway Hall this Saturday, and will be reading from around 4.30 in the garden cafe in Red Lion Square, alongside Sarah James and Lisa Kelly.
Jeremy is on our list of people to publish over the next three years. Just got to land some funding!
Carrie Cohen reads part of David Mathews‘ Wednesday Afternoons from Solstice Shorts, Sixteen Stories about Time at our #Arachne5 fifth anniversary party. She is keen to read the whole thing somewhere, soon.
Carolyn Eden reads at our #Arachne5 5th anniversary party, from her story Free White Towel, which is in Liberty Tales. Just audio for this one as the camera had packed up.
Here’s a picture of Carolyn reading it at another event.
The last of the videos from #Arachne5 anniversary party, the camera battery died after this – so it will be just audio from here on.
Nichol Wilmor reads An Account of Six Poisonings from Weird Lies in which families and lovers resort to extreme measures.
and Sarah Lawson reads Next Door to the Capulets, (originally read at our Shakespeare inspired Midsummers Night In The Garden event) in which, whilst the Capulets and Montagues disturb a lot of air, the neighbours just grumble.
Weird lies is part of special offer for our 5th Anniversary – get it for just £5
More from the Arachne 5th Anniversary Party – Summer All Year Long singing songs of protest, Liberty, and Bread and Roses, followed by Carolyn Eden reading from Free White Towel, her story in Liberty Tales
We had so much fun at the party on Friday. The quality of the live video (find it on Facebook) is a bit ropey so here is some better quality!
Here are Summer All Year Long singing the song from the original launch party for Stations, Sweet Train Roll Softly based on (the much better) Sweet Thames Roll Softly, by Ewan MacColl. We had a different arrangement originally, by Peter Morgan, but an almost entirely different choir membership and very little rehearsal, so this is Melanie Harrold‘s arrangement (more or less) which we learnt more recently.
And Bartle Sawbridge reading the middle section of Rich and Strange, the story he wrote for the Shadwell stop on the journey the anthology takes from Highbury and Islington to West Croydon.
With the 5th Anniversary celebrations heading into view I was thinking about the thank you speech, and like the Oscars it is in danger of going on, and on. And on. So I thought I’d blog it instead, a section at a time. So I’ve been catching up with authors past and present in the course of the fifth anniversary planning to ask what they are up to now, (not that I don’t know in some cases) because after all, without them there would BE no Arachne Press.
Several of them will be at the party, TONIGHT!! and even reading, come along and say hello, it’s free (but ticketed)
recently performed a new play, Leaves at the Edinburgh Fringe
