Joanne Harris is a community activist for racial and gender equality as well as a diversity, equity, and inclusion educator. She is proud of her social justice work, but without apology she is most proud of being mother. Joanne began writing poetry and short stories in elementary school to support her dreams of living a life that was not riddled with the racism that her family grappled with daily. Although she has never been free from discrimination, she is honoured that she is able to provide a safe and loving home for her family.
Joanne has a poem in Menopause: The Anthology
