A former primary school teacher, who began her career as an actor-teacher-musician in Theatre-in-Education, Juliet Desailly has written a wealth of educational material. She was a lecturer at the Institute of Education and a consultant on creativity and the primary curriculum. She co-wrote three ‘rock operas’ which were performed in the 1970s, and wrote songs for and with the children she taught in South London primary schools.
Juliet’s song for Shortest Day, Longest Night , Light a Candle is inspired by Joan Leotta’s poem Short day: Solstice and was performed by Juliet on the night. The lyrics are also in the book.
