Sandra A Agard

Sandra is one of our guest editors for our 2021 anthologies, and with Laila Sumpton, edited Where We Find Ourselves.(Oct 2021)

Sandra A. Agard is a professional storyteller, author, playwright, literary consultant and cultural historian. She has worked for over thirty years in libraries as a literature development consultant. She has worked in educational, cultural institutions, organisations and literary festivals throughout the UK and in the United States.

Her writing has been published in a number of publications. These include:

  • Talking Blues (Poetry)
  • Watchers and Seekers (Poetry)
  • Times Like These (Poetry and Short Stories)
  • Unheard Voices (Stories)
  • Black Lives Matter-Poems for a New World (Poetry)

 

Her plays have been performed at the Royal Court Young Peoples Theatre, The Polka Theatre, Wimbledon, The Lyric Hammersmith and The Drill Hall in London.

She has conducted a number of creative arts residences and employments at The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, Ministry of Stories, The Story Museum, Oxford, The Southampton City Art Gallery, Tom Allen Centre and the Theatre Royal, Stratford.

Her first children’s book, Harriet Tubman, A Journey to Freedom (Stripes Publishing) was published in 2019

In 2022 she will be publishing her second children’s book entitled The Bristol Bus Boycott.
