Brian Johnstone’s work has appeared throughout Scotland, in the UK, north America and Europe. He has published six collections, his latest being Dry Stone Work (Arc, 2014). He has read at various international poetry festivals from Macedonia to Nicaragua, and at venues across the UK. His work appears on The Poetry Archive website. Brian’s Website.

We are sorry to say that Brian died at the start of May 2021.

Brian’s contribution to The Other Side of Sleep, Robinson, is a sequence of poems based on the character ‘Robinson’ from the work of the American poet and artist Weldon Kees and on the circumstances of the poet’s disappearance in 1955.

For Liberty Tales, Brian has provided two poems both responding to photographs, Black & White, about an occupying army and The Branded Hand about ‘slave stealing’.
