Bernie Howley is a Bath-based writer, poet and workshop leader. After working as a research scientist, teacher and homemaker she came to writing, creatively, only recently. To get up to speed she went back to education and picked up a BA Creative Writing and an MA in Writing For Young People from Bath Spa University. It has been fun and life changing; as has Bernie’s experience of the refugee camps of Calais. She is the mistress-mind behind Bath Welcomes Refugees.
Bernie’s poem for The Other Side of Sleep, I have No Feet, is a true story in which dignity loses out to panic, her poem for Liberty Tales, The Privilege of Departure is set on a ferry.
