I don’t know how it happened but I didn’t post the videos from our Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed tour date at Albion Beatnik in Oxford! Liam Hogan did a great job without any actorly support.
I will just remedy that…
There we go. A reminder of what a lot of fun we had choosing locality appropriate stories.
You can by a copy of Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed direct and post free here, of if you are in Oxford I expect Dennis still has a couple in stock, or if you are going to Liars’ Leaguetonight, Liam will be there with a handful of books a pen for signing, and a hopeful expression.

Here we all are having a rollicking good time at Albion Beatnik in Oxford. There was a bit of discussion about the correct pronunciation of ‘C’ in Latin , and there was apparently a bona fide Classics teacher in the audience, so only one author was brave enough to read their Magna Carta clause in the original.
Here’s some snippets of video (yay! got the video to work!) to whet your appetite for TONIGHT’s event in Lewisham.
Had a problem with the camera again, so it will only be sound files for this evening. FRUSTRATING!
Thanks to everyone who read last night: Bernie Howley, Alison Lock, Katy Darby, Carolyn Eden, and to Carrie Cohen and Cliff Chapman for reading on behalf of Jeremy, David Guy and Anna Fodorova
Explore an unusual Gaudy Night, fish weirs, walking out, when it safer to appear witless, finding yourself in San Francisco, religious intolerance, and exactly what the value of a passport really is.
The Other Side of Sleep is well and truly launched – Oxford on Tuesday, London yesterday, and Brighton tonight. I’ll keep it brief got to get packed up – come to Bom-Bane’s Cafe George Street Brighton (not Hove, actually, in this case) tonight 8pm (IT’s NATIONAL POETRY DAY) for poems by Elinor Brooks, Jill Sharp, j.lewis, Andrew McCallum, and Sam Small read by Elinor, Jonathan Rice and Kevin Cherry. Plus music from Jane Bom-Bane.
In the meantime compare and contrast two readings of Orion by Simon Brod, the first half from last night at Lauderdale House, the second from Tuesday at Albion Beatnik. We had a great time at both and look forward to a tremendous evening in Brighton.
The Other Side of Sleep is available from all the best bookshops and direct from us of course, via our partners Inpress, or at the multitude of launches around the country over the next few months. Do come along to any of them, but please let us know you are coming for the London one as we want to know how much wine to get! (use the contact us page)
