Rob Walton is from Scunthorpe, and now lives in Whitley Bay. His poems, flash fictions and short stories for adults and children have appeared in various anthologies and magazines in the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. In addition to Arachne Press, publishers include Butcher’s Dog, the Emma Press, Bloomsbury, Frances Lincoln, Harper Collins, Dreich, IRON Press, Smith/Doorstop, Dunlin Press, Dostoyevsky Wannabe, Popshot and Strix. Rob has also written scripts, a pathway and columns for Scunthorpe United’s matchday magazine. He sometimes tweets @robwaltonwriter.
We published Rob’s debut poetry collection, This Poem Here in March 2021, in print and audio, and have previously published Rob’s poems in 2018’s An Outbreak of Peace, his flash fiction in Story Cities, and his short stories in Stations.
Rob’s story Words on Paper was performed in Carlisle as part of Arachne’s Solstice Shorts Festival, and published in the DUSK anthology in 2018. His story for Time and Tide, Solstice Shorts Festival 2019, The Dowager Duchess of Berwick-upon-Tweed May or May Not be Bottling It, was performed at Lisbon and Maryport, and published in the Time and Tide anthology. Rob’s story Mr King Has Decided to Pursue Other Avenues is published in our 2021 Solstice Shorts anthology, Words From the Brink.
Rob was the 2015 winner, and judge, of UK’s National Flash Fiction Day micro-fiction competition; and Winner of the Bread and Roses Poetry Award 2019.
