The Other Roads of Wales

Angela Graham says of her A470 poem, An Irishwoman is introduced to the Major Roads of Wales:

Are roads to do with power: which places deserve good access and which do not? In my first year of living in Wales, while learning the route of the A470,  I was given a sharp lesson in political geography by a colleague who asserted that the major roads of Wales serve as access for the English to Ireland; the interests of the Welsh being secondary.

Ai pŵer sy’n pennu cyfeiriad ein ffyrdd: pa leoedd sy’n hawdd i’w cyrraedd a pha rai sy ddim? Flwyddyn gyntaf i mi fyw yng Nghymru, a minnau’n dod i nabod yr A470, cefais wers lem mewn daearyddiaeth wleidyddol: mynnodd cydweithiwr i mi fod prif ffyrdd Cymru yno i hwyluso hynt y Saeson i Iwerddon; roedd lles y Cymry’n gwbl eilradd.
