The Story Sessions

The Story Sessions is on an indefinate break, but fear not,

there is now a book  Departures

It’s like a folk club, but with spoken word. Headlining authors and poets read to you, and you join in with

‘Flash from the floor’.

100 words of fiction or poetry, written specially, happening to fit the theme, or scribbled in the interval.

Testbed session:

just before the interval an opportunity to try out a brand new piece on an audience and maybe get some feedback.

Actor/Musician in residence, Annalie Wilson, reads for the shy or geographically distant and sing on theme songs.

Music, book sales, some silliness, lots of words.

feedback from recent sessions

intimate, salon-like. As if I’d stumbled into an invitation only séance peopled by the spirits of Victorian huckster and exotic beasts

a novel experience (pun intended) 1st time attending such an event and really enjoyed it

food for the soul surrounded by fine wines and food for the belly – what’s not to like?

a gallimanfry of bardic voices

It was very inspirational, its amazing how brave people are in telling their stories, sharing their feelings.

the people brought their songs and stories as offerings to the deeps of winter allowing all to share in the hope that spring will still come.

listening to what people have written gets the cogwheels of my brain turning, to write more of my own stuff. All the better as the people are friendly and a nice venue that serves interesting food and wine

good variety of types of writing & performance. Nice venue with welcoming staff service refreshments. Warm hosting by Cherry. Liked the test bed idea, very helpful to get feedback given in a positive fashion.

people gathered and taking an interest in each other’s creativity. The venue seemed most appropriate

variety of things being read and I loved Annalie’s voice

I love the variety of acts: song, poetry, story. Informality. I especially liked one of the stories – Deliver me. 100 word flashes were brilliant. Also Math Jones’ poem /flash fiction

the only night in london I know that features prose and narrative poetry.

a friendly welcoming corner of Brockley awaits the lover of the written word on verse and story. Great music too!

eclectic mix of stories and poetry in Brockley’s nicest café

lovely soulful singing, clever, funny and questioning stories read with panache.

writers are wonderfully weird and witty actors and creative speakers. This is an open platform for all of the above and more. An opportunity to be exposed to ans interesting ‘pix&mix’
