Kilburn Library London Lies Readings

Another Thursday, another reading – as part of the Word Up festival at Brent Libraries. Another batch of cakes, another accent from Katy Darby – channelling Thora Hird this time.

Kilburn Library‘s refit is so new it still smells of fresh paint and wood. Unlike many libraries I’ve been into recently, there are still plenty of books (hurrah!) and some rather nice turquoise sofas which we tested out while doing some interviews (more of which on a later date).

North London writers at the event, Clare Sandling and Laura Williams are very local to Queens Park, and Katy Darby used to live in the area before emigrating south of the river. Emily Cleaver came all the way from Oxford.

In the audience: fellow London Lies author Liam Hogan, and Stations authors, Louise Swingler and Wendy Gill

Snippets of the readings below – we struggled with a fair amount of background noise and a gradually collapsing tripod leg, but we managed to overcome it.

London Lies goes to Word Up

This Thursday 27th September, join Laura Williams, Clare Sandling, Emily Cleaver and Katy Darby at Kilburn Library 6.30-7.30 for a Word Up event (we’re on the third page). Reading from London Lies, we will discover the perils of homelessness, an obsession with winning, escaped bulls (or possibly demanding frogs) and post-apocalyptic cat-care. At the moment this is our only North London gig, so come along North Londoners! Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
