Another Thursday, another reading – as part of the Word Up festival at Brent Libraries. Another batch of cakes, another accent from Katy Darby – channelling Thora Hird this time.
Kilburn Library‘s refit is so new it still smells of fresh paint and wood. Unlike many libraries I’ve been into recently, there are still plenty of books (hurrah!) and some rather nice turquoise sofas which we tested out while doing some interviews (more of which on a later date).
North London writers at the event, Clare Sandling and Laura Williams are very local to Queens Park, and Katy Darby used to live in the area before emigrating south of the river. Emily Cleaver came all the way from Oxford.

Snippets of the readings below – we struggled with a fair amount of background noise and a gradually collapsing tripod leg, but we managed to overcome it.
