Happy Ending in Oxford

I don’t know how it happened but I didn’t post the videos from our Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed tour date at Albion Beatnik  in Oxford! Liam Hogan did a great job without any actorly support.

I will just remedy that…

There we go. A reminder of what a lot of fun we had choosing locality appropriate stories.

You can by a copy of Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed direct and post free here, of if you are in Oxford I expect Dennis still has a couple in stock, or if you are going to Liars’ League tonight, Liam will be there with a handful of books a pen for signing, and a hopeful expression.

Interview with Ghillian Potts author of Brat and launch info

A brief conversation with Ghillian Potts about the writing of Brat

Brat is a novel for older children and younger young adults, the first in a fantasy trilogy about Brook, who is 12 at the start of the series. The Trilogy is called The Naming of Brook Storyteller, because Brook, as a storyteller has the power of naming – she can raise or destroy people by the names she gives them, and she earns, and loses, names herself, starting out as Brat, before becoming Spellbinder (book two out in December 2017) and finally Wolftalker (book three out in June 2018)

We are launching Brat with a very informal launch reading at Eltham Centre Library, Archery Road, Eltham SE9 1HA on 7th June at 1.30. The reading will be performed by Carrie Cohen.

We currently have one other reading for Brat arranged (together with Ghillian’s other book, The Old Woman From Friuli.)

Osterley Library, St Mary’s Crescent, TW7 4NB on 22nd July 2017 at 2.30pm. Once again, Carrie Cohen will be reading.

Bookshops, libraries, schools, if you’d like us to visit and read to you, get in touch.

The Story Sessions Fantastical Tales Video part 3

Final section of the videos from The Story Sessions on Wednesday, and the Liam Hogan Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed set which had a decidedly immortal theme to it:

Time the Devourer, read by Annalie Wilson

Internet Dating for Immortals, read by Liam

and

the final take on Bad Day, with a little music from Annalie to top and tail it.

These are the final posts, from the final Story Session of the season.

We’ve made the decision to retire the Story Sessions as a regular thing – and it will only stick its nose out into the light (and inevitable rain – have we EVER done a session when it didn’t rain?) as part of festivals and if asked for – it is regretably too much work for far too little return even when part-funded by those nice people at the Arts Council (Thank you ACE, really). There are other things to get busy with. So Festival organisers – if you ask us, we will put together more sessions, but if you don’t, this is your lot!

The Story Sessions Fantastical Tales Videos part 2

Math Jones show case today.

Math contributed a long narrative poem to our anthology The Other Side of Sleep, and has been an enthusiastic Story-sessioneer this season. His final contribution is a four-part skim of the 50 pieces that make his Knotsman Sequence.

Happy Tour Ending…

The final full reading from Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed was at West Greenwich Library on 4th May.  Here are the videos of Liam Hogan reading in company with Lisa Rose.

Your final chance to catch Liam reading is at The Story Sessions on 17th May in Brockley.

Happy Ending at Burley Fisher Books – the videos

Burley Fisher Books in Haggerston is my kind of books shop – small, interested in small presses and with a performance space. And it’s on the Overground!

So delighted to be able to bring Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed to this lovely shop.

Readings in their basement – well lit, excellent acoustic, from Author Liam Hogan taking on health tips for Lycanthropes, out-of-hand artistic installations and the cliff hanger to end all cliff hangers, and Actor Carrie Cohen as the unflappable one woman emergency service, Mavis Ethelwright.
