The Story Sessions Winter tales videos

Videos of the readings from January’s Winter Tales Story Sessions.

Stories:

Poems:

Thank you to everyone who came along and read: Rosalind Stopps, Math Jones, Cath Blackfeather, Nancy Charley, Anne Macaulay, Michael Carey, Alison Lea, Annalie Wilson.

And to those who couldn’t make it and were read by Annalie: Megan E Freeman and Karina Lutz

if you want to take part in the NEXT Story Sessions, the theme is Retelling Tales (so… myth/ legend/ folklore/ famous stories with your own take) Headlining: Jennifer A McGowan.

We’ve got some great ones already, but we’d like more to choose from. Submit via Submittable, before the end of February for this one, or if you have something for May’s Fantasy theme you have a bit longer.

As usual, Annalie Wilson is available to read on behalf of people too geographically distant  to make it, and the very shy; and there is a SMALL budget for travel expenses if you want to come and read yourself. Plus of course, the audience luck dip that is Flash From the Floor. 100 words on theme prepared in advance or written in the interval!

The Story Sessions: Queer Tales

Queer Tales flyer19th February 7.45 for 8, at the Ivy House 40 Stuart Road, Nunhead SE15 3BE:

February’s Story Sessions celebrates LGBT history month.

Clare Summerskill

Stella Duffy is unable to join us after all, but Clare Summerskill has stepped up to fill the gap (Thank you Clare, for helping out at such short notice.) Clare will be joined by Rebecca Idris author of The Sitar, ably supported by  local author Cherry Potts, Cath Blackfeather and poet Anny Knight.

Don’t forget you can join in with our Flash from the Floor floor spots after the interval: 100 words of your own poetry or flash fiction on theme.

The theme for LGBT month this year is music,so if that additional element inspires you, nothing to stop you preparing your 100 words in advance!

**The Story Sessions are normally free, however, as we are paying our headliner, we wil be asking for a voluntary contribution of whatever you think the evening is worth!**

The Story Sessions – the first ‘Flash From the Floor’

You’ve heard of Flash Mob, you’ve heard of Flash Fiction? Well this is Flash From the Floor, where the audience is invited on stage for 100 words (about 1 minute) of on-theme fiction, (in this instance Hallowe’en) written for, or at, the event.

So here are the flash fictions created especially for our very first Story Session at Nunhead’s very own community owned pub, The Ivy House. From an audience of about 40 we got an excellent haul of nano stories, everyone agreed to their story being posted, so they are all here – all work copyright the writer-performer, actual video copyright Arachne Press Limited.

Videos of the headlining performers will follow shortly.

If you like the idea, join us at the Ivy House on Wednesday 13th November, for Armistice Tales, stories of War, Peace and Remembrance – with, perhaps, 100 words on the subject from you?
