Call Out to Artists and 2D designers

Arachne Press is looking for covers for our next two books, Lovers’ Lies an anthology of Short Stories in collaboration with Liars’ League edited by Katy Darby & Cherry Potts, and Mosaic of Air a collection of Short Stories by Cherry Potts both due out at the end of January 2013.
Designs will be shortlisted by Arachne Press, and showcased on our website, fully credited, then voted on by participating authors. The successful design will be contracted for a one-off fee of £200. All designs will benefit from the publicity of the process.
Specification:
4 colour design. Front cover dimensions 198mm High x 129mm Wide with 3mm bleed. Spine is likely to be 13-15 mm so maximum total dimensions will be 204×279 mm
We like designs that wrap right round the book, but that is not absolutely essential.
Design must either include or be suitable for inclusion of:
Title, editor/ author name and ‘Arachne Press’  on the front and spine, and blurb, ISBN, price, copyright info, Arachne Press logo and (space for) Barcode on the reverse.
Design must be delivered as 4-colour layered file (PSD/ InDesign or on paper/ transparency) so that text elements can be separated if necessary. (Blurb for example is likely to change)
Deadline for entries 1/12/2012
If you are interested, contact us for full details of the books and the contract.

London Lies Cover!

Cover Designer Wanted for Arachne Press Books

First up, we can only pay a pittance.  Perhaps a royalty, the same as for the writers? If that turns you right off, let’s agree to part right here.

We’re looking for exciting cover designs for our first two books, London Lies, and (provisionally) Stations.

For London Lies I’d love to use a John Virtue London Landscape, but I doubt I can afford it, and it might be too bleak for the stories.  Another idea is a map of London with street names replaced by the authors and titles of the stories (would have to be an original map).

The one thing we really can’t do with Stations is use any of the trademarked and copyrighted fonts and symbols used by the Underground.

We want the books to appeal to Londoners and to visitors to London…
