Cornelia Colman is a Voice Actor and Audiobook narrator.

Cornelia has contributed to several of our multivoiced Audiobooks: Incorcisms, 100neHundred and Accidental Flowers

When my sons were little, I used to read to them using different voices and accents for the characters. I really enjoy listening to audiobooks – for me, it’s like seeing a film playing in my head. Narrating them is the same. What a wonderful job! Being able to watch films while I work definitely brings a smile to my face.
Reading books allows the reader to put their own choice of voices and accents to the characters. Something I noticed while listening to audiobooks was the accents and voices were already decided for the hearer. I realised that about 80% of the voices and accents were American-English and about 15% were English. There were not any African-English or Caribbean-English accented stories. Also, no other world accents. Although my native accent is RP English my range of voices includes, several African and Caribbean accents, other foreign accents, also various English dialects.
Bringing many diverse, multicultural characters to life in my narrations is my intention. Hopefully, via using these accents I enhance the experience of listeners hearing my audiobook narrations by increasing their enjoyment of them.
As well as Arachne Press, some of my other Audio narration clients include Harper Collins, the RNIB and the Malawian government.
Audiobooks are better than sliced bread! You don’t have to see them, or read them, just hear them.
