Cover Artists

Our covers are very important to us. We like to use original art by artists and designers whose work we admire. Find out more about the people who provide the art for our covers on this page, and about our exhibition From London Lies to The Other Side of Sleep 1-12th October 2014.

My name is Annie I like to draw,
Birds and rhinos and hats and more,
and sometimes even in my sleep,
I pretend to draw with my feet.

Born in New Zealand and growing up in the melting pot of Los Angeles (father a German architect, mother a New Zealand scientist), exposure to other cultures, particularly in art, has distilled a disposition for the eclectic.
My artistic career started in the early 1980’s creating relief paintings and wooden sculpture, holding exhibitions in Los Angeles and in London.
Later, with a studio in Covent Garden amidst a buzz of the emerging London fashion scene, I began experimenting with different forms of plastic. This led onto creating jewellery and for a number of years I worked in accessory design producing one-off pieces and limited ranges in collaboration with clothing designers and shops    such as Paul Smith, and Liberty’s.

More recently my work has been guided by the emergence of the digital realm, with drawing, painting and collage still forming the basis of my creative process.
I endeavour to produce works that have a strong graphic appeal, and are alluring, beautiful, and sometimes surreal.

Kevin Threlfall cover artist Weird Lies,

With Paper for Feet and Happy Ending NOT Guaranteed

Weird Lies Cover copyright Kevin Threlfall9781909208360

Kevin Threlfall is a professional designer and illustrator who somehow also finds time to run an independent art gallery in his beautiful home town of Marsden, West Yorkshire. Kevin regularly exhibits and is currently Artist In Residence at Lawrence Batley Theatre, where he is exploring the connections between music, performance and the visual arts.

The original for With Paper For Feet is an oil painting based on the Yorkshire landscape where  Kevin lives, done primarily writh a pallet knife, called The Pennine Way (which is on his  website ). We  tweaked the colours a bit for the cover design.

I draw or paint things I really want to see myself, and my work can be seen as an expression of my compulsion to create. Nothing excites and scares me more than a pencil and a blank page. Motivation comes from exploring the possibilities of enhancing everyday life by making magic from the mundane. Materials, styles and techniques are constantly changing and evolving, but my artwork always contains a dreamlike quality at its heart.

Kevin also provided us with some prints for our crowd fund
