Elaine Hughes

Elaine Hughes lives in Carneddi Bethesda and is Welsh and fluent in her native language. Her home overlooks the Penrhyn Slate Quarry ( which was once the largest source of Slate world wide ). The Carneddau and Glyderau mountain ranges are the landscape surrounding her home . This is the backdrop to her story ā€˜ Jackdaw ( Jac-Y-Do in Welsh)

Elaine is a qualified counsellor with many years experience of working in Mental Health Advocacy . Other work includes Research Facilitator for clinical trials at Bangor and Sheffield University in the arena of Aging and Well being. She is currently working on an anthology of short stories set in Rural Anglesey of the 1960s. The character dialogue is written in Welsh . She is interested in combining her experience of working in the field of Mental Health with Therapeutic writing in a bi-lingual context.

Elaine’s story, Jackdaw, will be performed at Noon at Ynys Mon on 21st December 2018 and published in the Noon anthology on 21st March 2019
